Bias Self-Assessment: Age

Introduction

Welcome to this Bias Self-Assessment through which you will assess your unconscious bias on Age.

This assessment will be realised through the Affect Misattribution Procedure, a psychological test designed to measure implicit attitudes, exploring how subtle emotional influences affect decision-making, even when we attempt to disregard these influences.

Each trial consists of three stages:

1. A picture (prime) will appear briefly on the screen. This image is not relevant to your task but may include scenes, faces, or objects.

2. A second picture (target) will appear immediately after the first one. This is the image you need to evaluate.

3. After the second picture, a visual pattern will prevent you from further analysing it.

What do you have to do?

You will be asked to evaluate the pleasantness of the second image; was it pleasant or unpleasant? Decide fast!

Key reminders:

  • ● Focus on the second picture: Ignore the first one and judge the target image based solely on your immediate reaction.
  • ● Respond quickly: Make your decision based on your first impression—there’s no need to overthink.
